Good Food: Book Cafe Under the Tree

Baguio is made for walking. If you can manage it don't ride the taxi too much. It will deplete your money which is better off spent on food and souvenirs. And when you're tired from all the shopping and walking, try out this cute Korean style cafe beside SM Baguio.

Instantly, I fell in love with the interiors and all those books!! Then I realized majority were in Hangul. *lol* I am quite sure they said their menu is limited to drinks and cheesecake. I forgot the details now, it was raining when we got there so all we wanted were hot milktea. They don't offer full meals so better go there after you've eaten. Session Road is really near here so it's not going to be a problem. With all that being said I would still hang out here because of the green milk tea and the strawberry cheesecake. They were good!

Good Food: 50's Diner Baguio

After flying solo last July, I went back to Baguio after 2 months; with my friends this time. First stop is 50's Diner. Though I initially didn't want to go (because I wanted somewhere less crowded), but the food and the place won me over.

 

It's open 7AM to 10PM. I think it's more charming at night though. Pretend you're in a scene from Back to the Future. haha You may have to wait a bit though because MANY people line up to eat here. 

My friend and I ordered the same dish so we weren't able to try the other food on their menu. Plus the food portions are HUGE so we didn't order more. The price is super affordable. I payed 200Php+ for a full meal. If I was in a Manila restaurant I would probably pay 350Php+ for it. Totally worth it!

100 Happy Days

I'm not one to follow hype because I lose steam halfway through. There's #Project365 where you post photos everyday. For a moment I considered it so I can practice my photography but I cannot make that type if commitment! Some days (like 5days straight) I just want to bury myself underneath a pile of bedsheet. No one wants to see a pile of bedsheet for 5 days straight!

The latest hashtag meme I saw had me coursing through a friend's memory lane. #100happydays. He was sharing happy and grateful moments in his life. I thought it was touching. Plus it's totally doable. Only 100 photos! *lol* On the other hand, there's me thinking this can easily be #100daysofTRYINGtobehappy or #100daysofFAKINGhappiness. Because you know some days are just not that happy. :3 I can do this! Turning off the "fake blogger" persona is something I need to practice everytime I write anyway.

Good and I am very blessed. I have learned the proper places of things. Acceptance is the key. Some may call it tolerance but I have learned to stop the victim-mentality. I am in charge of my choices. :)

Invest in yourself

How many times have I found myself frustrated thinking about my life's endless possibilities. What do I choose? Who will I become? Though I believe that we must "Focus on one thing and do it well.", fortunately we have plenty of time to try and learn as much as we can. So go ahead and invest in yourself. Learn everything and spend a lifetime being good at the things that truly inspire you.

1. Addicted to art. Surround yourself with things and people that inspire you.

2. Travelling is good for the soul. Even more so when you are with good company. Looking forward to more trips with my crazy girls. ;)

3. I think I'll miss you forever. Like the sun to the stars in the morning skies. (I don't miss the traffic though ^_^')

4. Coffee with friends. I think this is what coffee shops are made for really. A place for people to reconnect.

Go your own way

This is for the countless little plans in my head...Dreams I run after, now with more passion,...and for my vision of how I want to live my life. Go your own way.

Do not be afraid to pursue your dreams however different they may be from the normal aka rat race.

On the other hand, there is really nothing wrong with running along the same path as most people. Just make sure your choices are steps towards your own growth and fullfillment. I recognize my lack of skills and resources and so I am running the rat race but I know I will not be doing this forever. I am where I am because this is where I need to be at the moment.

Just experience all that you can. Grow. Improve. Invest in yourself. :)

Seize the day!

At some point in our lives we all put up a facade of how happy we all live, how interesting our lives are, how life is just oh so perfect. At the end of the day you're still you and if everything is just for show, what kind of life are you really living?

Shed your masks. Cast them away. Really live your life. :)



So I'm finally back! I come back refreshed and with a better mindset about this blogging thing and with my life in general. I used to blog what I wanted to do and what I forced myself to do. Now.....I'm writing what I did and more importantly how passionately I pursued it. ;)

Grow where you are planted

Often I find myself complaining about my job, of various little things I feel discontent with. I fail to notice that I am where I am because that is where I need to be at the moment. That I always have the power to remove the invisible shackles I (or society) put on myself. I am not a victim.

I am the Master of my fate. I am the Captain of my soul.

Don't settle. Move forward but don't forget to grow where you are planted. :)

Solo Baguio trip July 2014

Sorry for the crickets on this blog. Haha. It's not because I have nothing to write. I just prefer to live my life each day rather than write about it. Plus I barely use my laptop for anything other than downloading songs and watching movies. I'm always on my phone.

Seriously thinking of switching to tumblr. Photos uploaded using the blogger app look wonky and tumblr is just so much easier to update. ( >.<) I'll fix this blog soon.

Meanwhile, here are some photos from my Baguio trip last July. ;) First time in a long while to travel solo. I missed the quiet panic of not relying on anyone but your own guts.

My art collection #1

The very first artwork I acquired was back on 2012, a watercolor painting by Valerie Chua. I love all her works but I knew this was the one I really wanted to own. It's simple and not so feminine. If you want to know the inspiration behind it - it's actually a girl Marimo ball. :)

Two years later. I went to Art in the Park 2014 last March and got these three. Not surprisingly all three are from Vinyl on Vinyl gallery. I'm slowly learning the type of paintings that really draws me in.
 
The photo from the top is a commissioned art "American Gothic" by Mayi. I had been admiring her works on instagram for quite a while and one day finally decided to message her. I'm glad she also does oil paintings. I saved up for 2 months! It was not expensive really ... well it was by my *salary* standards *lol* but it was all worth it!

Bottom on the right is a mixed media art by Jukus Sepada. Bottom on the left is an art by Jett Ilagan. I really should have bought both works by Jett ( T-T)~ but I had a budget. :/

And here is a recent piece I acquired. It's a mother and child ink art by Jose Alberto Reyes.

Escolta saturday market

I found out about this monthly art fair held in Escolta around the end of last year. I thought it was interesting to do it in a such a historical place. It is a bit out of the way and scary to go to alone but if you're alert it's a nice area to take a stroll and buy cheap stuff (Near Binondo & Quiapo). Well after so many months of putting it off I finally decided to attend one although my work schedule does not permit me to have a life during the weekends. *lol* Lately though I've been forcing myself to go to these art fairs with minimal sleep. So far I'm able to survive a full shift with coffee and more coffee. haha

Typical me I got lost on my way there. I'm directionally challenged haha ( ^^)v but if you keep a light heart then even stuff like this can be fun.

The fair caters to artists, crafters, book, and antique sellers. I was more excited about the artists really. I started acquiring art recently and the latest is this mother and child ink art by Jose Alberto Reyes. I'm still contemplating if I should have it framed.
